I have been teaching GCSE Combined Science and Biology for over 12 years across a number of schools. I have also had experience being a Lead Practitioner of Science, Director of Science and a Specialist Leader of Education in Science. I am currently an Assistant Headteacher in a large Surrey secondary school.
I am a qualified secondary school Teacher of Science. I teach all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) to GCSE and Biology to A Level. I have been an examiner for AQA, OCR and Edexcel examination boards for over 12 years and so I know what the examiners are looking for from students. I have written original mock examinations, published textbooks and other resources for education writing companies and my resources have been purchased by over 700 schools.
My most recent GCSE results for my classes were:
New GCSE 9-1 Combined Science Specification:
86% Grade 4-4+ (30% above the National Average)
57% Grade 5-5+ (23% above the National Average)
36% Grade 6-6+ (20% above the National Average)
11% Grade 7-7+ (3% above the National Average)
7% Grade 8-8+ (4% above the National Average)
My most recent A Level Biology results for my classes were:
94% A*-C (23% above the National Average)
72% A*-B (23% above the National Average).
I have successfully tutored students for A Level Biology, GCSE Triple Sciences and GCSE Foundation and Higher Combined Science.
I deliver lessons online and therefore can offer tutoring to students across the UK. I have a graphics pad that can be used to effectively facilitate online learning as a whiteboard.
My approach will centre around the tutee. It is important that s/he is comfortable with the approach in order for them to make expected or above expected progress. I will use a variety of techniques to include different learning styles in order to successfully answer the examination questions, through metacognition approaches; as well as modelling and practice. Each session will have a variety of activities to assess the tutee's progress made in order to motivate them to achieve their full potential. I will be flexible and adapt the sessions in order to meet the tutee's individual needs.
