Rob studied Biological Sciences (Hons.) at the University of Edinburgh where he developed a thorough understanding of scientific principles and protocol that he has carried into his working life. Since then he has completed his PGCE (Secondary Science) and a Masters in Education and Health Promotion, both at the Institute of Education, UCL.

Rob currently works full-time at Weydon School in Farnham as a member of the Science teaching staff. He also tutors. In his own time Rob likes to keep fit and spend time with his two children. He is easy-going but highly professional and competent.

Tutoring Experience

Rob has worked in mainstream, independent and international education for the last 22 years. He has been judged to be an outstanding (grade 1) teacher in each of his Ofsted and performance management observations over the last 15 years. He has taught all year groups from Year 7 to Year 13 and is confident and capable delivering all sciences to GCSE/iGCSE (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, CIE) and Biology at A-Level. He has experience in various management posts in teaching, having been Head of Year, Head of Pastoral Care and Head of Science. Rob has tutored students of all abilities both privately and working with Borough Councils in a variety of subjects, including all sciences and maths. Rob has also taught both Biology & Chemistry A Level in a Sixth Form College.

Tutoring Approach

Rob's tutoring style is one that seeks to support and equip learners with all of the curriculum material and skills that they need in order to develop fluency in their chosen area, but that ultimately gives them the independence to succeed without input from someone else. He aims to build a relaxed but hard-working and stimulating working partnership.
