Rebekah

Hi, I'm Rebekah. I am an experienced professional tutor, teacher and principal examiner. I am a graduate of the University of Nottingham (BA (Hons) and PGCE). I am married and have three sons of my own, so I understand the pressures that young people and their parents are under. Outside of work, my passions are singing, watching films and visiting National Trust sites. I am an organised, friendly and caring person.

Tutoring Experience

I taught History for 6 years at Key Stages 3,4 and 5 in a large, high-achieving secondary school. I also have 4 years experience of teaching primary. I worked as an English Lecturer at an FE college, teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English. I have also been providing tuition in various subjects for over 10 years, including preparation for the Lincolnshire 11+ tests. I have been an History examiner, including a Principal Examiner, and Moderator for various exam boards for many years, marking GCSE, iGCSE, International O-levels (Singapore), AS level and A-level qualifications. My specialisms include Medieval History, Tudor and Stuarts and British 19th Century Political History. However, I am able to teach all aspects of history. I also produce resources for the Times Educational Supplement which have been downloaded thousands of times, by teachers all over the world.

Tutoring Approach

I like to support students with their existing school work. I believe in working on basic skills and on building self-esteem. For older students, I like to work specifically on examination techniques and preparation. I hope to foster a love of learning and of the subjects I tutor in. I tutor exclusively online and believe that this is a highly effective method of learning. I use Zoom and Google Apps to aid my work, but am willing to use other conferencing platforms (FaceTime, Skype), as required.
