AS Use of Mathematics
There are many reasons why students need extra support in maths: lack of confidence, sub-optimal school experiences, gaps in knowledge or lacking an effective independent study strategy. Often it is a mix of several factors. So in our first session, it is important to me to begin by first understanding a tutee's experience so as to best tailor my approach to fit their needs and give them the best chance of achieving their goals.
I achieved top grades in all of my qualifications and have made a career of supporting hundreds of students do the same. Despite this, I was once a teenager who did not believe in their ability to achieve in maths, so can empathise with individuals feeling the same and know what it takes to turn this around. As a teacher, I am patient, calm and warm in my demeanour and my students appreciate my preparation, high quality resources and the clarity of my explanations.
I love maths, I love teaching maths and experience has shown me that everyone is at least a little bit better at maths than they think they are.
