I decided to retrain and become a teacher later in life, when I realised how much I loved supporting my own children as they progressed through primary school. After many busy years I found that I loved teaching but hated the lack of work life balance so decided to get the best of both worlds by tutoring whilst working outside the profession.
I am an experienced primary school teacher and have taught all the primary range from Foundation to Year 6. I have found that each year brings a new set of challenges and experiences for a child and I have a good understanding of how to help them and build their self-confidence in their school work.
I love the personal touch that tutoring can give to your child's learning. Each child is different, what is straightforward and easy to one may be confusing and overwhelming to another and if they are in a busy classroom environment it can be easy to loose confidence and believe they can't do it. When tutoring I am able to tailor the planning and teaching to match your child's pace, how they learn and what interests them.
I am a very calm and patient teacher, happy to 'go over' areas your child may be struggling with until they are confident, while also looking for a variety of ways to keep their learning interesting.
I offer 1 to 1 and small group sessions.
