My true passion is maths. I have always been interested in understanding how something works and the laws of nature. But, my interests extend far beyond maths. I enjoy playing many types of sports, including beach volleyball, basketball and tennis. Similar to how I approach my studies, I also like to push myself and continue to develop my athletic ability. I'm very social and easy to talk to. Therefore, I will create the ideal learning environment in which the student is free to ask questions, go at their pace, and grow as a student. With that being said, I strive to succeed and continue to learn, and I will help you succeed as well. I have BSc. in Maths, a BSc. and an MSc in Physics, a Bachelor in Business Administration and also a teaching certificate (required to teach high school students). So I am prepared to teach a broad range of subjects. I also completed an MSc at Imperial College in Maths and I am now a math Ph.D. student at UCL.
I began tutoring when I was in high school. Since then, I have continued to tutor students in maths, physics, and economics at all different levels. I was also a Teaching Assistant for Classical Mechanics, a course taught to second year physics students. In order to receive my teaching certificate, I taught maths to high school students for one quarter. My diversity in tutoring experience, allows me to tailor my tutoring sessions to meet the needs of each individual student.
Firstly, I will talk with the student in order to identify his/her problem areas or areas they would like to improve. In order to clarify tough material and help them improve, I will use day-to-day examples that students can relate to in order to help the students identify with the material and facilitate understanding and comprehension. As mentioned before, I tailor my sessions to meet the individual needs of every student. In order to achieve this, I not only use real-life examples and problems, but I also take the time to understand and get to know my students in order to create examples that the student will relate to and can be easily understood by that individual. I will set the pace of progression based upon the student´s prior knowledge and rate of comprehension of the material. I want to make sure that each student understands all of the material that is troubling them.
