My name is Raj and I am a 21-year-old student studying a BA in French and Philosophy at the University of Nottingham. Having enjoyed studying French from a young age, my enthusiasm and passion for French has driven me to study it for my degree. I now want to share my love for the language with others who are willing to learn, regardless of what their current language level might be.
In my first year of university I taught French to medical students and in my second year I did a module in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), equipping me with the skills needed to teach English as a foreign language, to non-native speakers.
Language lessons should be fun and dynamic, and I try to incorporate themes in my lesson plans such as French culture or daily life to keep the class engaging. I strive to create a relaxed environment in order to allow the student to feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions- I consider this to be fundamental to the learning process. All lesson plans are tailored to each student’s learning level- where possible I will try and cover a combination of listening, speaking, translating and reading unless we have agreed to focus on any specific skills or topics.
