Hi! I'm Rajan, a 2nd Year Undergraduate studying Mathematics at Durham University. I have been tutoring students from the age of 13, starting with primary school pupils. I pride myself as an enthusiastic tutor with a strong desire to pass on knowledge. I believe every student is unique, and learns in different ways. Enabling them to discover how they learn best is an integral part of growing up, and is why I chose to tutor.
I have tutored 3 individuals through the new style primary school SAT tests, teaching Maths, English and the Sciences
I have tutored 3 individuals through KS3, introducing them to advanced concepts in Mathematics, English and all 3 sciences, preparing them for the jump to the new style GCSE content.
I taught a class of 12 individuals the GCSE Further Mathematics specification, acting as their teacher for a year, running weekly classes where new concepts such as derivatives and limits were explored. The final grades of my students ranged from A** to B
I have tutored a student GCSE Higher Tier Biology, exploring practical scientific concepts, as well as analytical content such as data analysis.
I have taught 4 individuals the new style GCSE Mathematics, both Foundation and Higher tier. Sessions were tailored to their learning styles and personal needs, and long term objectives were successfully completed, one of which was to help a student pass their GCSE Mathematics exam.
I am currently teaching 2 students A Level Maths, with Pure Mathematics, Stats and Mechanics being given equal time. Sessions are focused around weaknesses and abstract exam questions, to prepare students for the challenging exams.
As a young tutor who has recently taken these exams, my approach is more personalised than the usual tutor. I can relate to the problems these students face, and my approach is based around finding learning styles best suited to individual learning. After we have established this, we identify weaknesses, and start from the most fundamental weakness, and work up from there. Building a solid foundation of knowledge is vital in these new style A Level and GCSE's, as exams rely on thinking outside the box and an excellent foundation to solve problems effectively.
