Hi! My name is Raghav and I have recently completed my A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Computer Science, having been predicted A*A*A*A* in Year 12.
I can teach:
GCSE Maths (any exam board), GCSE Economics (any exam board), GCSE Computer Science (any exam board), GCSE Further Maths/ FSMQ (any exam board)
A-Level Maths (Edexcel), A-Level Further Maths (Edexcel - Core Pure 1/2, Further Mechanics 1, Further Statistics 1), A-Level Economics (OCR), A-Level Computer Science (OCR)
11+ (CEM/CSSE - Maths, English, VR, NVR)
As well as this, I am also able to teach TMUA (entrance examination for Maths, Economics and Computer Science) having achieved a 6.2 (scales up to a 7.0 with old scaling) where the average score is a 4.5. This has allowed me to receive offers to study Economics at LSE, UCL and Warwick University.
I hope to be able to pass on my passion for these subjects to the students that I teach. I'm really looking forward to starting this learning journey together!
As a school mentor for GCSE Maths and Economics, I supported students through regular one-to-one sessions. One of the students I mentored improved their final grade by 3 levels under my guidance. I planned structured lessons using tools such as starter quizzes, worked examples and whiteboard activities, ensuring I adapted my approach to each student's learning style.
During the COVID pandemic, I also taught KUMON to younger students, having completed Level M in just Year 8. I used features such as the interactive whitebaord on Zoom to neatly lay my working out. I focused on explaining concepts in a way which the students could follow visually and at their own pace.
I plan to approach my lessons in the following way:
First Lesson:
Interact with the student and test their understanding of certain concepts. This will give me an insight into the student's starting point, from which I can construct my lesson plans.
Second Lesson Onwards:
1) Starter Question - this will be based on the content covered last lesson
2) Worked Examples - this will allow me to teach the student the concept and I will be more than happy to answer any questions the student has
3) Allow the student to have a go on their own (provide help if needed)
4) Have a go at an exam question
5) Set Homework Questions (made up of exam questions)
