Rafia

I am a qualified science and maths teacher also well organised and patient so that I can deliver the specific lesson plans of all my students. My well developed sense of humour is part due to my exposure to a variety of people. I feel that I have a good all round personality – able to lead and yet to be a good listener.
I can assimilate and analyse information, concepts and ideas quickly and accurately and reflect often complex subjects, into an easy to understand picture for students.

I am accustomed to dealing with people involved in stressful situations with confidence and courtesy through my teaching and other work experience.

Tutoring Experience

Since 2005 I have been working as a private tutor, whilst raising my young children.

Private Secondary School(Nottingham) 2003-2005. I managed the running of the secondary department of this independent school. My responsibilities included staff development, budget accountability, pastoral care, performance management of staff as well as teaching maths and science.

City Of Leicester College 2002-2003. I worked as a maths teacher covering a maternity leave for 1 year.

ParkView School Birmingham 1999-2002. I taught science and maths at Keystage 3 and Keystage 4.

Manor Park School Nuneaton 1998-1999. In my first teaching post I taught science across all age ranges.

Tutoring Approach

I prefer to teach in my own house as I have all of the resources I need to ensure an effective lesson. I also believe that students learn more effectively outside of the home environment. I take my lead from students allowing them to set the pace of the lesson thus catering for all abilities, however at times I do push pupils to meet realistic targets, which I believe from my teaching experience is an effective approach. I follow closely to the relevant schemes of work. I am able to cover all the available specifications and have a resource bank of past papers. I will always plan my lesson well in advance, and will have all the resources I need ready for the lesson. I will agree the areas of focus with the student and ensure that we have a plan in place to meet those targets. For pupils who wish to progress from G.C.S.E to A levels with me I would offer a considerable discount.
