I graduated in 2012 from the University of Edinburgh. Whilst my 4 year degree focused on English Literature, I also minored in: Linguistics, English language, British Social History, American History and Classics.
I then went on to complete a PGCE in English at Durham University and followed this up with a Masters in Education.
I have 11 years experience of teaching GCSE & A Level English Language and Literature in a high school.
I have experience of working with students of all abilities. I can help students prepare for any English exam, though my expertise is with Edexcel (GCSE), OCR (A level English Language) and Edexcel (A Level English Literature) & iGCSE (Cambridge International) as I examine for these boards twice per year.
I will start by ascertaining the specific requirements of my student: Do they need to develop their skills or increase their knowledge? What result are they aiming for? Is there a key skill that needs work? Is there a specific literary text where understanding needs to be developed?
I focus primarily on exam skills - with frequent modelling of approaches - to ensure students have confidence in their exams.
I am available for both in-person and online lessons, evenings and weekends. I’m particularly interested in offering intensive lessons for exam students in the weeks running up to exams.
