After reading English at Swansea University in 2012, I relocated to London where I was honoured to be selected to complete my teacher training via a top graduate scheme. I have worked as a Teacher, Head of English and Assistant Principal ever since. As Head of English, my department was researched as part of the OFSTED English review and I have a proven track record of achieving results.
⭐️ 10+ years teaching
⭐️ 6 years experience as Head of English
⭐️ 2 years as a senior leader
⭐️ 2024 DBS
⭐️ 7 years experience as AQA examiner
I have worked extensively with borderline pass students raising grades from U-3 up to grades 4,5 and 6.
Within my top set, I was proud to take 2 students to grade 9 and 6 students to grade 8 in 2024!
My extensive experience as an examiner has given me an unmatched insight into the expectations of the GCSE examinations and this insight translates directly into success for my students. I am able to accurately identify any areas of weakness and target them with precision as well as provide intricate knowledge about how to reach the top grades.
My teaching philosophy centres around rigorous knowledge acquisition underpinned by patience and kindness. I believe students learn better when they like what they are learning and understand why they are learning it.
I approach each student as an individual and devise an action plan for us to make the maximum level of progress. I use rigorous assessment to ensure that I know exactly where your [child’s] strengths and weaknesses are. I then target these weakness with speed and precision, providing a range of support and challenge to improve interpretation, writing skills, criticality and more.
