Home Tuition for Maths and English in Penrith

I’m an experienced and dedicated teacher with 16 years of continuous service at the same school, recently relocated to Penrith with my husband and our one-year-old. Outside of teaching, I love spending time with family and friends, getting outdoors, travelling whenever possible and caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants!

Tutoring Experience

With 16 years of classroom experience, I’ve taught across all primary year groups and tutored many students alongside my teaching role. The majority of my time has been spent in Year 5, where I developed a strong understanding of how to support pupils at a crucial stage in their learning. My most recent class before maternity leave was Year 2 and I had 33 pupils, including 12 with special educational needs, giving me extensive experience in adapting lessons to meet a wide range of abilities. I’ve also led PE and Design & Technology as a subject coordinator and I’m especially passionate about physical education—my pupils went on to win both city and county championships in athletics and hockey. I bring energy, patience and a creative approach to every lesson, helping each child build confidence and enjoy their learning journey.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is all about making learning fun, memorable and stress-free. I believe that children learn best when they’re enjoying themselves, so I use games, songs and creative activities to help key concepts stick. I set high expectations, but always keep the pressure low—because a child who feels anxious can’t thrive. Building confidence is at the heart of what I do and I take pride in creating a positive space where children feel safe to make mistakes and proud to succeed. For me, it’s not just about passing tests—it’s about helping children develop a lifelong love of learning.
