I am currently a resident doctor in Leeds with a keen interest in medical education. Originally from Wirral, I graduated from Newcastle University in 2023 with both an MBBS and a Master's in research. During my time at University, my peers and I struggled to fully grasp concepts in the medicine curriculum, which inspired me to develop techniques that are structured and increase understanding rather than pure rote learning. I have taught these skills to 100s of medical students via national teaching programmes.
I am very passionate about helping medical students pass medical school as it was only a couple of years ago when I was in their same position.
Similarly, I am also passionate about interview coaching for sixth formers that are looking to apply to medical school
GCSE/A-level biology: Achieved an A* in GCSE and A-level biology, achieving 100 UMS in nearly all papers.
Medical school applications: I am an interviewer for several universities, meaning that I am aware of what it takes to become a strong candidate.
Medical school exams: I have created and taught numerous regional and national teaching programmes which has helped 100s of medical students pass their exams
In my opinion the best thing a tutor can do initially is to listen to student. Usually, students know what they're struggling with and its my job to listen to this and act upon it.
After ascertaining the main issues, I will develop a plan with the student that tackles the issues. This is very flexible depending in the student's learning style, which I can assess on a case-by-case basis.
