Hello!
My name is Poppy and I am a recent graduate from the University of Manchester. I graduated with a Merit in my masters degree in politics.
I am currently working as a teaching assistant at Armitage primary school in Manchester. In this role I have gained an understanding of how best to approach explaining processes and ideas to children in a way that allows them to grasp and apply them.
My teaching approach is very much flexible in the way that I believe all students of any age need a learning experience tailored to them; what will work with one student may be completely inappropriate for another. I believe that working with the student to understand how they best approach learning in vital to getting the most out of the child and myself as an educator. While a tailored approach, in my view, is vital, there are some pillars of my approach that I apply when teaching any student. Those being taking a calm and student centred approach, allowing the student to lead their sessions and work at their own pace and ensuring that the student is comfortable and feels able to get things wrong as this is all part of the learning process.
