Dr Thornton has an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, and a PhD in Particle Physics from Imperial College London.

Tutoring Experience

He taught for 30 years at Dr Challoner's High School, Little Chalfont, as Head of Physics, then more recently on a part time basis until 2015. He has been tutoring privately for the last 11 years in the South Bucks area.

Tutoring Approach

Dr Thornton supplies pupils with detailed notes on all relevant topics, often supported by practical experimental work. Considerable emphasis is placed on correct technique in answering past examination questions. He has experience in teaching all three examination boards, AQA, OCR & EDEXCEL. He is also familiar with all the new syllabuses.
