I have lived in the Holme Valley pretty much all my life. Although semi-retired, I continue to work in education and my current dream is to produce my own writing scheme (the Bad Boys Writing Club). I live with my wife, two daughters and Cooper the dog. My interests include boardgames (designing, producing and playing), cricket and reading.
I was a Primary school teacher for 35 years, spending a large part preparing pupils for the KS2 SATS tests. I retired in 2015, but have continued to work in education, providing writing support to teachers in Kirklees and Tameside, doing booster work and providing INSET, as well as doing tutoring.
I will always work around the particular needs and abilities of the pupil. Whenever possible, I like to use a very active, games-based approach with lots of challenge and fun, and would put helping them develop a love for learning very high on my list of priorities.
