Hi, I'm Pele, I'm 19 years old currently studying at Durham University as a psychology undergrad. I have achieved top grades in French and speak it as my second language, so I have both an academic and personal background that allows me to be articulate in teaching more difficult concepts to students.
Outside of the tutoring scene, I love watching and playing football, and as an Arsenal fan, I can say that I am a resilient and patient person!
I would love to be able to be to tutor French for you as it is a subject with so much history and beauty, so it is great to be able to speak it! I hope to be able to make a seemingly complex language rather fun and simple with fun, insightful and engaging activities.
I tutored Maths and French as a freelance tutor for about a year, helping mostly primary and secondary kids achieve their best potential in two subjects important in navigating our fastly developing world. Outside of tutoring, I have worked as a volunteer at Cancer Research, so have great communication, time management and organisation skills that will aid our tutoring classes greatly, all with the aim of reaching your best potential!
Not long ago, I was in your shoes, studying French at school, a bit confused and wanting a bit more help outside of school classes to help me inside classes.
During this search, what stuck out to me and helped me the most was not boring French lessons where someone would just talk to me for 30 minutes like in school, but what helped me the most was fun, interactive lessons that put French into current, everyday scenarios and contexts, such as talking with friends and ordering food. For me, real life application is the best way to learn any language. I hope to bring the French experience to you!
Lessons will typically start off with some ground work to solidify your French "base", such as improving your grammatical structures and verb tenses, before progressing onto more interesting and challenging areas, like ordering food or even listening then translating current French songs! This may seem far off, but my lessons will provide a step by step guide to making you a more fluent, more natural Frenchman or woman.
Lessons are of course tailored to your own levels, so please don't feel hesistant if you can only say "oui, merci, au revoir"! Equally for those later on in their French career, especially those preparing for crunch exams, lessons wil still focus on creating fluency and clarity of expression through real-life applicability, but with a special focus on exam prep (e.g. practice papers) to help you get ready.
I aim to provide solidarity in written and speaking expression through fun, interactive lessons tailored to your own levels.
In addition, I also tutor Maths as well, with experience with experience as a maths tutor previously. Lessons, as with French, are focused around solidifying your "base knowledge" before moving onto more fun and applicable scenarios.
