I am a friendly, down to earth person who has a passion for teaching. Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, over the years I have lived and taught in various places including London and New Zealand. Settled in the North West now for over 10 years, I enjoy watching Newcastle United home and away, cycling and walking with my wife and Ruby the dog.
I have been in education for over 30 years wherein I have maintained and developed a maths interest and specialism. I am currently a secondary maths teacher and have successfully tutored a number of students over the past 10 years. My years in primary education allowed me to gain an understanding of just how important a solid mathematical foundation of maths is. My maths experience allows me to teach successfully across Key Stages 1-4.
I have a passion for teaching and maths as a subject . I believe mathematics is an vital suite of life skills which will equip learners with the skills and knowledge they will need in their everyday lives — both personally and in the workplace. My approach is centred around the needs and interests of the student. As a tutor I will support and play a part in your child's maths learning journey. I am patient and have always tried to explain why and how maths work within meaningful contexts.
