I and my family have been living in Milton Keynes for a number of years. Whilst we enjoy travelling abroad we also love visiting new places in the UK. I enjoy walking and generally keeping fit. I also have been part of an amateur dramatic group and have always volunteered within my community. Currently I am a volunteer at our local art gallery. At the moment I am only looking for online teaching.
I have been teaching English language for thirty years both in the UK and abroad and in colleges, private language schools and university. I teach all levels from absolute beginners, including students who have never been to school in their countries of origin, to students studying for degrees and Masters. I have worked with students from all over the world, including the Far East, Middle East Europe and The Americas.
I have also a great deal of experience in preparing learners for exams at all levels, including IELTS.
I adapt my approach to the student or the class. Whilst it is always necessary to have some fun within learning this must be balanced with seriousness in order for the learner to progress and have confidence in the tutor. I consider it vital that, besides the tutor, the student themselves can monitor their own progress and achievement in order to identify their personal strengths and weaknesses. This empowers the student and creates independence.
I always like to involve a range of materials which are relevant, engaging and current and which originate from different media sources.
