I am a recently retired primary school Headteacher with experience as head of 3 different Primary schools, 2 of which were in East Sussex. Whilst maintaining some school inspections I wish to continue working with pupils and using my teaching skills that have been acquired over many years. My preference, and experience is to teach reading, spelling and writing to young children aged 5-9 who are having difficulty in the early stages of accessing English skills.
I have been a teacher in Primary school for over 20 years and have taught all year groups from Reception to Year 6. I have a Masters Degree in Special Educational Needs and practical experience of helping young pupils overcome their difficulties in learning and acquiring reading and spelling.
During the pandemic I had to withdraw from one to one tuition. I am now offering catch-up lessons and general lessons mainly in Literacy to help primary aged children close any gap there may be.
I teach through a multisensory method which gives pupils access to games as well as books etc. These can be taken home for the week so the pupil continues to practice the skills they have learnt.
