A professional and dedicated teacher with a great passion and enthusiasm for Literature and English Language. I believe all children have the potential to succeed with the right encouragement and support to meet their potential.
I have over 10 years experience as a qualified English teacher in secondary education, with a proven track record for success. In previous years as an English teacher and as a tutor, I have worked with students who have had a range of abilities, from those aiming for a Grade 9 to those who are struggling to get a Pass.
As well as extensive experience at GCSE, I have also been a leader in Key Stage Three. I am well versed in working with students of all ages, with the skills required to both challenge and engage students in their English studies.
In addition to my experience in State Education, I have also worked in the Private Sector, teaching the Common Entrance 13+ exam as well as IGCSEs.
My approach is very much tailored to the student I am working with. Through careful assessment of their skills and barriers, I am able to design sessions that support students in the areas where they need the most practice and help. Sessions with me will provide pupils with a higher level of understanding of studied literary texts; equip them with techniques required to be successful in exams; and develop their independent skills, so they are able to approach creative writing tasks and essays with greater confidence and flair.
I believe in the growth mindset model and so encourage students to see beyond their own perceived limitations, cultivating a positive outlook and resilient attitude toward challenges.
