I am a Computer Science BSc Hons graduate and a retired teacher. Married with two young children, 15 years and 8 years old, and 2 grown-up children, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, plus my mature age, all this has granted me patience and empathy with my students. As a qualified teacher, I started home tutoring in 2009. My students have responded well to my methods of teaching/coaching and they have achieved high grades. A high proportion of them achieved ‘A’s, ‘A*’s, 8, and 9s both in GCSEs and A levels. My motto is "To Believe Is To Achieve”. My aim is to get students to believe in themselves, to have their own goals, and to use these to carry them through their learning curve problems.
15 years of private tutoring GCSEs, A-Levels, and University entrance exams. Many of my students had special needs. A high proportion of my students have achieved high grades
My approach is to provide a friendly atmosphere but still have productive sessions. My methods are geared to allow everyone to achieve the best grades they can. Above all, I try to get students to enjoy their studies and not see their studying as a chore.
As part of my tutoring, I advise on revision and exam techniques without which high grades are harder to achieve. As an ex-examiner, I show the students how to present their work so that the examiner can award full marks thus increasing their chance of ‘A’s, ‘A*’s, 8 and 9s. Not all students have the potential to get top marks. I do cover the new syllabi and the new emphasis on problem-solving.
My tutoring is bespoke to the student's needs. For online, the student will need a laptop or tablet, a printer, WhatsApp or scanner, and an email address. My normal process is to email relevant work; student send scanned or photographed copies of their work; We go through their answers in the session with modal answers, which they will be sent after the session. The student can send any other questions or requests as well.
