A passionate leader and educator specialising in all the sciences, with a Chemistry degree from a top university. My enthusiasm for, and deep knowledge of, the subject I teach leaves my students energised and engaged. In the classroom and as a tutor, I have a track record of delivering fast improvement for students.
I am looking to tutor one to one, or small group, in the sciences at KS3, and GCSE, or A level Chemistry. Group rates can be negotiated.
Qualifications:
PGCE (Secondary Science) - BCU (Removed)
PGCert Science Communication - Distinction (UWE, Bristol)
BSc (Hons) Chemistry - 2.1 (Warwick)
A levels: Chemistry (A), Physics (B), Politics (A). Biology and History AS levels.
I have 10 years experience in working as a teacher, and 13 as a tutor. I have been a leader in science in various school departments across the Birmingham area, as Head of Department, Subject Leader and Lead Practitioner roles.
As a tutor, I bring my wide knowledge of the subject, teaching styles, exam preparation and practice, and knowledge of how parents and students can get the best out of their relationship with school and their science teaching.
I am an open, flexible and relaxed individual with a professional attitude, and approach teaching as a two way relationship; being able to mentor a student to gain the confidence needed to do as well as they can in examinations. I think that covering the basics and having a solid grounding is key to the success of all science students, and just as important as going beyond the curriculum boundaries.
