Hi, I'm Oktay. I recently graduated from the University of Manchester with an MPhys in Physics with Study in Europe. Before university, I studied for my GCSEs and A-levels at The Latymer School where I achieved all 9-7s and A*A*A respectively.
The bulk of my tutoring experience was during my year abroad in Germany. Whilst studying there I tutored kids aged 10-11 in English, planning and delivering lessons in a way that was able to engage with them so that they didn't get bored, and ensuring their progress. Beyond this, I have always enjoyed casually helping out, especially with maths. This is particularly true for my younger brother, who I would often teach and solve problems with.
In general, my tutoring focusses on, and encourages developing a logic and intuition for problem solving. As such I believe in developing the necessary pattern recognition skills, so that when students are faced with a seemingly new problem, they are able to approach it using learnt tools. Additionally, I feel that my previous experiences have allowed me to develop my own ability at relaying problems in a digestible manner, so that students don't feel discouraged and that they are unable to learn at all.
