I offer tuition in the relaxed environment of my own home or can also offer online tuition if preferred, specialising in giving support for 11+/Entrance exams and teaching English and maths for age 5 -13 years. The tutoring that I do, allows me to work with children who are Gifted and Talented, as well as children who find the English or maths curriculums more challenging. Tutoring Experience

I have over 30 years experience in the education sector. During my time working as a primary school teacher in schools, I was employed as the lead teacher for key stage 2, I was also the subject coordinator for English and history, as well as acting as the mentor for student teachers. I regularly attended a variety of courses for both Literacy and numeracy, to enhance and keep my knowledge and teaching skills up to date. I took the decision to leave school teaching at the end of 2013 and began my own business offering private and personalised tuition at the start of 2014.

Tutoring Approach

I believe the key to successful teaching is to ensure that pupils are fully engaged in activities that the child feels are both challenging and fun, providing enjoyment and stimulation. I also feel that children learn more when they have the confidence to ask questions and discuss the tasks that they are given. I personalise each lesson to my individual pupil’s needs, providing the appropriate amount of support for them, this includes giving weekly homework tasks, so encouraging independence.
