I am an experienced and qualified music tutor based in Leeds who offers individual one-to-one tuition in music theory, aural training, composition and songwriting. Additionally as a qualified university lecturer I teach study skills from A level to undergraduate and postgraduate levels. An experienced teacher (schools, colleges and university) I cover all styles from classical to jazz and popular musics and teach from beginner to advanced levels (adults and children).

Tutoring Experience

I have taught at Yorkshire College of Music and Leeds Grammar School covering ages from 8 to 18 and also taught music at degree and postgraduate level at Huddersfield and Leeds Universities. I am cuurently a part-time senior lecturer in music at Leeds College of Music and lectruer at Huddersfield university. As a professional composer myself I also direct community and professional ensembles such as the Leeds CoMa contemporary Music for All group. I have directed guitar ensembles, pop bands, orchestras and contemporary groups and have a wide knowledge of musical genres.

Tutoring Approach

I am adaptable to students' needs having taught a wide range of ages and levels and enjoy this diversity.I can help students develop composition and songwriting skills and help with Music GCSE, ABRSM Theory grades, A level or BTEC Music course work. at home with both classical and popular musics I can make pupils feel more confident with music notation, aural abilities and enjoy teaching adults who want to find out more about how music works.
