I am a fully qualified secondary school Mathematics Teacher in London. I am second in charge of a mathematics department. I have been teaching for six years in school and have nine years of experience tutoring. I hold a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Kingston University at a 2.1. I have completed my PGCDipEd at University of Birmingham, which is rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2013.
I have taught students from a whole range of levels, students with moderate learning difficulties as well as those aiming to achieve top grades in GCSE and A – Level Mathematics. My students are a diverse range in terms of academic and social backgrounds each presenting me with a range of challenges that we have worked together to resolve.
I have transformed many of my students who initially were struggling and working from a Level 1/2 to working towards Level 7 and 8 by building their confidence in topics which they were struggling with and giving them more challenging questions which may have not been covered in school. I set challenging questions during the tutoring session which are generally one or two grades above their target grades, so that students are able to move two or three grades above their target grade. All my students have seen their marks improve no less than at a rate of 99%, and the majority of my GCSE Students have received Level 7/8/9 from 2012 – till present.
I am a Mathematics teacher at secondary school, which has a six form . I have taught a wide range of ability.
I have been tutoring for about seven years, i am aware of which topics students find most difficult .
My students have shown progress by moving from grade 5/6 to grades 7/8 and 9.
Teaching style-
Online tutoring
I prepare material just for the students and help manage and organise their study notes by keeping track of their progress.
I give regular mini test (which are exam style) to pupils to keep tack of their progress and to see if they are achieving above their target grade.
I give pupils challenging questions which one or two grades above what they are working at school so they are able to answer challenging questions and achieve above their target grade.
In the first 5 to 10 minutes of my lesson I do a quick mini test and mark it to see if the pupils has fully grasped what they were taught previous lesson. Then move on to another topic, which I feel that the student is struggling in.
I set out exam-style questions for the pupils so that they can tackle exam questions, I go through with the pupils how to answer exam style questions for each question so that they are able to tackle hard questions in exam.
I set regular homework and expect it to be completed so that I can check where the pupils is struggling and progressing.
