For the last 13 years of my career, I have invested my knowledge and skills into educating young people towards a successful future. I believe that education is a life opportunity that helps shape contributing members of society and it is with this vision that I have been motivated to work in schools as a Teacher of English with a great sense of responsibility and purpose.
I am currently teaching in a local comprehensive and as the Reading & Literacy Coordinator, I am involved in the development of strategies that will enable us to improve the standards of reading across the whole school. I have also been the lead teacher for Drama as well as Phase Leader for Key Stage 3. My teaching spans all year groups from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5 and I successfully ran my own tutoring company for a number of years. More recently, I have become an examiner for the English Language GCSE.
I focus on getting to know my students by establishing any gaps in their knowledge. My lessons are then personalized to ensure that these gaps are fulfilled. Lessons are often fast-paced and challenging but I also recognize the need to adapt and change teaching methods to meet the requirements of different learners for a more successful outcome. Each lesson is a milestone that takes the students closer to their goals and it is my responsibility to make them feel fully supported in this journey.
