English Lessons in Hornchurch

I have been working in the field of education for around 9 years. I have a degree in English Literature and Language, and a PGCE from Nottingham University in English teaching, I also have a Masters from Warwick University in Educational Leadership, and a lot of teaching experience. As a fully-qualified teacher with a passion for the subject, I have a firm grasp of learning theory and different pedagogical approaches, which underpins the way I teach and how I maximise the potential of my students.

Tutoring Experience

I have designed materials that have been exam-board approved by AQA, Edexcel and WJEC. This means I have the resources to provide my students with exam preparation and essay feedback that is specific to the exam board and mark scheme they are going to study.

Tutoring Approach

I have taught the curriculum for all levels from KS3-KS5. I like to prepare lessons that align with what the students are studying at school, so the lessons are relevant to them. I like to know which texts they will study and to feedback at the end of each lesson. I like to encourage an open dialogue with my students about how they are finding the topic.

For the first lesson I ask students to bring a piece of writing with them that might be in their school book, or a past essay or a practice exam paper. This gives me an idea of their strengths and areas to improve.
