Hi! My name is Naomi and I have a first class degree in Chemistry, 2 years of private tutoring experience and really enjoy working 1-to-1 with students to help them with chemistry. Whether this is exam focused, or getting up to speed in different subjects areas as the year academi year progresses, I am here to help!
My speciality is building up students subject understanding as well as their confidence in a subject. Chemistry is a varied and tricky subject where its easy to get discouraged when you get stuck, so I love working with students to find the best way for them to learn!

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored privately on and off for 3 years, two years consistantly, both while studying at University and after. I am experienced in teaching GCSE and A level syllabus for both AQA and Edexcel exam boards and am happy to take on students under other exam boards. This past year (over 4-5 months) I have helped my students work from:
- Edexcel A level: grade D to A*
- AQA GCSE: grade 2 to 6 (E to b)
- AQA AS level: grade C to B

Tutoring Approach

I believe tutoring works best when tailored to the individual, both in terns of teaching style, resources used and what kind of targets are useful to set together.

With that in mind our first session would involve working with the student (and parent if helpful) on their aims and areas of struggle before moving onto topic specific work!

During a normal session, we will go through different topics (tailored to the student) to consolidate theory and build understanding. In my experience, a combination of helping students find the answer through problem solving situations, and exam question practice is one of the most effective combinations to the above.

I am also happy to provide learning resources and questions for students to work on between sessions, or to just work within the hours of tutoring.
