Online Maths and Physics Tuition

I started teaching young children (8 to 13 years old) in 2005 when I was seventeen. Coming from a humble background with financial constraints, I needed to do a job to complete my University education. I managed to get a few private tuitions in the evening, and I started my BS (Hons) degree in Physics in 2005. I chose to study Physics because I was able to understand it much better compared to other sciences.

In the beginning, it was a daunting task to teach new concepts to young minds. With time, I learned various teaching skills to deal with young children. I learned how to safeguard their emotional and physical wellbeing, their character and moral building, etc. I began tutoring Physics to A/O Level students in 2007. I realized that I could teach complex physics concepts to students in an uncomplicated and understandable approach. My teaching methodology helped them develop critical and analytical thinking, and they began solving intriguing questions and problems.

My teaching career at professional teaching institutes began in 2011, soon after I did my Masters in Science (MS) degree. I served as a lecturer of Physics from 2012 till 2016 as a full-time faculty member at a college where I was responsible for teaching Physics courses to undergrad students. Besides teaching, I also secured admission to Ph.D. in 2012.

In 2015, I went to NTU, Singapore, to complete my Ph.D. research. In the evenings, I taught Physics to students from various nationalities at an academy there. I had experienced teaching syllabuses from diverse boards such as IBDP, Edexcel, IGCSE, AQA, OCR, CAIEs. I produced fascinating results as many of them got A & A* grades. Mentoring international students gave me immense motivation and self-belief. I started considering myself a teacher who can cater to different types of students in terms of their learning needs and help them do well in Exams.

Successful tutoring experience in Singapore inspired me to focus my teaching career on teaching High School Physics. I felt that there were no real challenges teaching undergrad students because their grading was based internally. Externally assessed international exams, for example, Cambridge Assessments, bring a real challenge to a teacher, and preparing young minds for such exams is a huge responsibility. The reward for the teacher comes in the form of their success which brings unmatched satisfaction.

My teaching career at the schools began in 2016, and I have been quite successful so far. In academics, I have produced good results consistently. Apart from academics, I have also been actively participating in school activities and events. The events that I organized also got the attention of the electronic and print media. The local media also highlighted some of these events. My colleagues and students believe that I have a dynamic personality and I have good skills and abilities. These qualities include my knowledge and teaching style, quality demonstrations, time management, reliability, empathy, commitment, dedication, respecting and taking ownership, motivational abilities, computer skills, and decision making.

I have applied and secured admission at University College London (UCL) for PGCE for September 2022 intake.

Tutoring Experience

I have a teaching experience of over 16 years.

Tutoring Approach

I have three degrees: BS (Hons), MS, and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering. Physics was the Major Subject in the BS degree, and I studied various courses related to physics and mathematics. Some of these courses include Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Modern Physics, Waves and Vibrations, Quantum Physics, Thermodynamics, Computational and Statistical Physics, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, etc. In my postgraduate studies, I studied advanced courses such as Semiconductor and Optical Materials, Phase transformations, Numerical methods, etc. Thus, I have acquired a sound knowledge base to teach physics and mathematics to secondary school students.

Physics is one of the most captivating subjects but probably the toughest among other sciences. From my professional teaching experience, I have seen students struggling in physics, especially when they do calculations, draw or relate graphs, and do qualitative analysis. They find concepts from Dynamics, Waves, Electricity, Quantum Physics, Electromagnetism, and Thermal Physics quite challenging. I try to make these concepts easier by using a variety of interactive demonstrations, class activities, and discussions in my classes. Furthermore, I assign them rigorous practice questions that have a range of difficulty levels. Thus, their critical and problem-solving skills are enhanced.

I have been teaching physics and mathematics since 2007. Teaching these subjects has enabled me to grow as a teacher. I believe my understanding and teaching skills have improved many folds since I began my career as a teacher. In these years, I have encountered many fascinating students who have asked thought-provoking questions and stunned me with their inquisitive nature. These students are a blessing for a teacher because their presence ensures the teachers' quest to consolidate the knowledge is never over. I have always enjoyed discussing the theories in physics with my students. Students' participation during class plays a paramount role in their learning. To help students improve their problem-solving abilities, I have prepared topic-wise questions from various topics and subtopics from syllabuses such as IGCSE, IBDP, and A levels. These topical questions provide extensive practice for exam preparation, but more importantly, mastery of these two subjects improves significantly, which is the ultimate objective.

To conclude, I am a passionate teacher of physics and mathematics who is always willing to learn and apply new teaching methodologies and techniques. Throughout my teaching career, since 2005, I have gained considerable teaching experience. I want to excel further in my teaching career, and I cannot imagine pursuing any other profession than teaching.
