Before I started tutoring full-time, I taught in secondary and prep schools around London.

But I initially started teaching in Beijing, where I taught English as a Second Language.

There, I also tutored for an education consultancy, helping students prepare for their entrance exams.

Through teaching in China and learning Chinese up to HSKIII level, I can better support Chinese students who wish to study in the UK.

I hold a BA in Creative Writing and a PGCE in Secondary English.

Tutoring Approach

From 10 Plus to GCSE English, I will model how to answer every question and task your child may be given, showing them how to secure full marks.

My method of modelling, I believe, makes me a particularly effective tutor, as I answer the papers that my students sit day in, day out.

Further, I know students are often given endless tasks and templates to use, but rarely provided models.

That's why I provide models: to show students what a straightforward approach to each question, essay, and piece of writing looks like.

Additionally, I live-model, teaching students the questions they need to ask themselves for any given question or task.

Also, I believe students are often taught ineffective essay and paragraph templates which are designed to assist the least able students.

I know through marking papers that the formulaic, tick-box methods students are taught do not lead to top marks and make English a chore.

My aim is to help students write with more clarity, concision and style. Students are taught how to respond flexibly and in-depth to any given question or task.
