I'm Mike, a passionate history enthusiast with a lifelong interest in the subject. I've had the privilege to visit many exciting historical sites around the world, which has deepened my understanding and appreciation for history. As a family man, I value the importance of sharing knowledge with others, especially young learners. I love making progress with my students and work hard to help them reach their full potential. When I'm not exploring the past, you can find me running, hiking, and enjoying the great outdoors—activities that keep me active and grounded.
I have 20 years of teaching experience, having qualified in 2004. Throughout my career, I have worked in both grammar schools and non-selective environments, where I have also held the position of head of history at Guernsey Grammar School. More recently, I have taken on the role of headteacher, allowing me to further develop my leadership skills in the educational field. I have collaborated with exam boards and have taught students ranging from ages 11-18. My academic credentials include both bachelor's and master's degrees in history, along with a PGCE.
I am excited about exploring topics from the past and sharing my knowledge with enthusiasm and a keen sense of fun. I love asking questions and utilize imagery and sources to bring history to life for my students. I provide regular feedback and strive to be both direct and supportive in my approach, ensuring that my students feel encouraged to engage and learn.
