I'm a 35 year old professional actor who has a fair amount of spare time in which I like to tutor. I'm degree educated, gaining a 2:1 from King's College, London in BA/War Studies which is a multi-disciplinary degree focussing on History, International relations, Economics and social studies. Prior to that I achieved A-Levels in History, English, Chemistry and Biology and am very confident in these subjects as well as Physics in which I received an A* at GCSE. Before becoming an actor I undertook 2 years training at Drama Studio London focussing on classical acting and texts. I also passed the 12+ to gain a place at Aylesbury Grammar School and am happy to tutor for this.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously tutored Biology and Physics at GCSE. I have coached acting and text analysis for drama. I have coached essay writing technique for History at A-Level and degree. I have coached primary school Maths. I have also tutored via Skype.

Tutoring Approach

At GCSE or below I like to encourage pupils to tell me what they know about a given subject; this helps me identify gaps we need to fill but usually helps build confidence as they realise they know more than they thought. We can then work to fill those gaps before reviewing the topic with a test where they can demonstrate their fuller knowledge. At higher levels it is more about encouraging pupils to use their knowledge more efficiently through sound analysis techniques and communication through sophisticated essay writing technique.
I also like to take a step back with pupils and create a clearer, calmer plan for what is required to achieve their qualification as it is quite easy to lose the wood for the trees when doing several subjects at once.
