I decided to qualify as a teacher quite late, after bringing up a family and have been teaching for 19yrs. Previously to this I qualified as an Accounting Technician. Teaching has been rewarding and I thoroughly enjoy giving my knowledge to students and see how I can make them understand the concept that has evaded them. I usually build a good report with the students I teach.
I have made a difference in many young lives, which is rewarding and pleasing.
Many of my interests include creating soft furnishings, sketching and photography also walking in the countryside.
During my years of teaching I have also taught foreign students English and English speaking adults to read. This has meant their world has changed tremendously and allowed them to become involved with life in a deeper way. My teaching experience has been varied, as I have taught varying age groups through agency work, which has often been long term. I have been called upon to teach English and Maths and have an English Specialism, which has enabled me to disseminate English and show many similarities to help a
student remember and understand certain concepts. In my experience I have found teaching Maths very rewarding too, as a great deal of students both primary and secondary have difficulty with the basic concepts, but when they realise and notice patterns within Maths they start to like the subject. My experience has included five years in a secondary school where the children have had behaviour problems and I achieved many successes in both Maths and English. I also have experience, teaching in a home environment. I am fully conversant with the use of phonics for some students who have difficulty in literacy. My teaching has also covered English G.C.S.E and Maths G.C.S.E to intermediate level in a higher educational school.
Initially the pupil or student will usually say what he/she has difficulty with and my approach can be varied according to how the pupil/student understands the concept. I have found visual illustrations helpful, particularly in Maths.
I seem to have a deep understanding of how people learn, that enables understanding for the pupil/students to grasp the subject with a deeper understanding, therefore, this is transferred into long term memory to build on.
