I am a recent music graduate at the University of Bristol, but whilst studying, I have been tutoring for the last three years, which I've enjoyed immensely. Having studied music, I have a real passion for this subject, and love anything creative but really enjoy maths, and showing people that maths doesn't have to be a struggle and can be fun!
I have had teaching experience for the last 3 years, with 5 maths pupils at GCSE and Key Stage 3 levels, as well as teaching music GCSE and the violin, ranging from the age of 7 to adults. I have had various volunteering roles helping with youth clubs and summer camps, so have had a lot of experience working with children and teenagers.
Everyone learns differently, and it's a case of getting to know who you're teaching and how they learn best to try and enjoy learning the subject, because people learn a lot better when they can engage with the subject, and have the confidence to know that they can do it (especially with subject that can seem daunting, like music and maths). It's about explaining things in a way that each person can understand and pushing them to do as well as they can without alienating them from the subject.
