Maya

Hi ! My name is Maya and I’m a positive, outgoing university student with a personal interest in making maths accessible for everyone. I’m in my third year studying maths at University of York, having just complete a year abroad in France! I enjoy running and reading and speak a little french.

Tutoring Experience

During college I was a Maths Mentor for first year students, helping to understand where they went wrong in homework and exams. I also tutored my brother while he was preparing for his GCSE’s.

Tutoring Approach

I like to explain problems in terms the students understand, like using football teams to explain venn diagrams. Understanding the general concept helps students to solve problems logically and recognise them in other questions. I also believe repeating different forms of the same question helps these math techniques become muscle memory.
