Hi, I'm Max.

I am a gap year student applying to study Maths at undergraduate level, currently with an unconditional offer from Warwick University.

As a Maths applicant, I have first-hand experience with the various Maths entrance exams which all the top universities require you to take.

I have taken the TMUA and STEP exams, both of which are used by a range of top unis for many different competitive courses.

In particular, my TMUA score of 7.8 puts me well within the top 10% of candidates, who are those that score 7.0 or above.

These exams are very different to the kinds of questions you will typically come across in school Maths. They focus primarily on problem-solving and logic, and can seem quite unfamiliar and daunting to students at first.

However, if you start preparing early on and in the right way you will slowly gain confidence and familiarity, and ultimately achieve the grade necessary to get the uni offer you want.

So if you are applying for a course that requires either TMUA, STEP or MAT, book in a free first lesson with me and we can discuss your specific situation and goals, as well as start tackling some (not so) scary problems together!

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored numerous GCSE and IB (equivalent to A-level) students in Maths, and helped them to achieve final grades which were higher than their predictions.

Tutoring Approach

In a typical session we will focus in on a small number of problems taken directly from a past paper of the test you are preparing for. Initially, I will provide a lot of help, guiding you through the question and explaining any clues that are given in how it is worded. As you become more experienced, I will let you have a go by yourself, giving small hints if you get stuck or evaluating your method when you are done.
