I am a fully qualified computer science teacher with years of experience both in teaching, and in the tech industry.
I am passionate about computer science, and about giving students an understanding of the subject. Under my tutelage I have had many students go from struggling with computer science to achieving high marks including grades 7 - 9 at GCSE and A - A* at A Level, with some students even gaining a love for the subject and going on to study it at university.
Outside of teaching I have many hobbies including playing roller derby, drumming, and the game of Go!
2025 - present: Teaching A Level computer science East Sussex College
2024: Achieved Qualified Teacher Status
2022: Achieved Postgraduate Certificate in Education
2021 - 2024: Teaching KS3 - KS5 computer science at Newstead Wood Grammar School for Girls
2019 - 2021: Junior Software Engineer at Moneybox
In my first session with a student, I ascertain items for a tutoring plan such as the student's goal, exam board, strong and weak areas, and preferred learning styles. I then build a custom curriculum designed to meet each students personalised needs. This personalised approach has given students fantastic results, and an appreciation for computer science.
Some examples of lesson components include scaffolded examples, pair coding, interactive diagrams, and quizzes.
