Mauricio

I am a 21 years old and I have recently completed my studies at University of Oxford reading English literature and language. I got 2 A stars (English literature, Economics) and an A at A level (Maths), along with an A at AS Level French. I have previously tutored a girl at 11+ who got admitted to St Paul's Girls School and a range of other schools. I have substantial experience in tutoring for students at all levels, from 11+ to university admission.

Tutoring Experience

I have some experience in tutoring. While at school, I volunteered at ‘West London Welcome’, a centre where asylum seekers could gain help in learning English. I also helped to tutor a girl in English 11+ over the course of the second lockdown and later helped 3 students with Oxbridge admissions for English literature at the beginning of the 2022/23 academic year (including personal statement, ELAT and interviews). Two students received offers from Oxford for the upcoming academic year. I am therefore extremely flexible in teaching and I am keen to expand on tutoring experiences.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons would focus mainly on close reading skills. Close reading provides students with a basis to constructing strong arguments. I also try to help with improving flair and precision in essay writing/comprehensions, sharing a range of useful resources for students' ideas to flourish.
