I have a enthusiastic approach towards Mathematics, which is shown in my teaching methods. My enthusiasm enables me to engage students with the subject, and lead them into a better understanding of the topic.
I have seen students who lack the confidence in Mathematics, and my aim is to give that confidence to the students and enable them to succeed to a high standard in their examinations.
I have been teaching for the past 12 years, including teaching in Grammar, Comprehensive and Independent Schools. I now work in the top Grammar School in Essex as a Deputy Head of Mathematics with reaponsibilty of Key Stage 5. I have taught all Key Stages, therefore, I have an in-depth understanding of all the material in the subject. I am also involved with the ongoing changes in the curriculum, linking the previous years to the newly proposed GCSE specification. I am also an examiner Edexcel and have an indepth understanding of examination techniques. This has enabled me to build a strong pedagogy within Mathematics and ensure the best possible grades for my students.
My approach to tuition is to give the student confidence in the subject via enthusiasm towards the subject, with my infectious teaching style. Once a student is confident in their own ability, the key to success is to constantly stretch and challenge the confidence that has been built up within the subject.
With this approach to tutoring, students will achieve their full potential, and will no longer say the dreaded words. "I don't get it"
