I am a qualified English teacher who has been working as a teacher in the UK for a year, and has spent time working abroad to teach English as a foreign language. I am passionate about developing literacy and promoting love of reading in young people.

Tutoring Experience

I currently work in a secondary school teaching English and I am really enjoying this. I have previously worked in language academies in Spain, and summer camp in America teaching English as a foreign language. Before that, I was a tutor for A-Level and GCSE pupils whilst I was studying at university and this provided much of the basis for my teaching experience.

Tutoring Approach

I try to take an approach to teaching that incorporates what works best for the pupil in front of me, I work in a collaborative way with my pupils to ensure that they are sharing their ideas because I think that learning and succeeding in English is based in discussion. I find that reading and writing is a skill that needs to be developed, in the same way as problem solving and maths, so I try to teach pupils how to do this through a series of ingredients including modelling and scaffolding.
