Hi! I’ve just finished my Law degree at the University of Law with a First, and I’ve always loved writing — even back at school where I got 9s in English Language and Literature and A*AA at A-level. I’m from Manchester, and creative writing has always been my thing. I’ve got a real passion for reading, and over the years it’s helped me become really strong at turning even the dullest writing tasks into something exciting — and more importantly, into something that gets top marks.
I’m calm, friendly, and encouraging, and I know great writing doesn’t happen overnight. But with the right guidance and the right approach, it absolutely can. I’m all about helping students build their skills step by step until it feels natural. Outside of tutoring, I love copywriting, going out to eat, and a bit of shopping too.
I have experience tutoring fellow A-Level students, successfully helping them improve their law grades from Ds to As in the months leading up to their exams. Additionally, I have supported younger family members with their English GCSEs and have provided paid tutoring sessions for students seeking to enhance their skills in English Language, particularly creative writing.
I have developed a comprehensive portfolio of Grade 9 writing samples and created detailed learning resources that guide students step-by-step to improve their writing. During high school, my English teacher referred to me as her “mini me” due to my role in assisting with teaching the class and producing model writing examples.
While I have dedicated the last three years to completing my Law degree, I have worked with around 15 students, consistently delivering high-quality tutoring. I tailor my lessons to each student’s individual needs, ensuring they not only improve their grades but also build confidence and enthusiasm for writing. Feedback often highlights my ability to teach without pressure and to make writing enjoyable through a variety of focused, manageable tasks rather than lengthy, repetitive exercises. I maintain clear communication with students and parents to support progress effectively.
My teaching style is highly tailored to each student’s individual needs. I use short, manageable tasks to gradually build their skills, rather than overwhelming them with lengthy essays. After completing a task, we review it together, and I provide a Grade 9 specimen written by myself on the same prompt to give clear examples of excellent work.
I focus on improving writing technique and emphasize that quality is more important than quantity — students learn that they don’t need to write pages upon pages to score highly in creative writing. This approach helps students appreciate that less can often be more.
Because the tasks are short and varied, students tend to stay motivated throughout lessons. At the end of each session, I ask what they enjoyed and what they found challenging, so I can adjust future lessons to address their needs directly.
To keep lessons engaging, I incorporate starter tasks that test knowledge of language and structural techniques, and use discussions and creative prompts to spark imagination and interest. I also encourage interactive learning where students can actively apply concepts rather than passively listen.
My tutoring is structured into 10 sessions designed to boost grades progressively. I measure progress by tracking the sessions completed and by having students redraft previous work to see tangible improvement. We also work closely with exam mark schemes, so students understand exactly how marks are awarded and how to incorporate those criteria into their writing.
