Tutoring Approach

A dedicated, patient, and confident maths tutor with more than twenty years of experience of teaching maths on a one-to-one basis and small groups.
With my extensive knowledge and experience, I tutor students who are in key stage 3 and 4, helping them to increase their knowledge and confidence in the subject together with preparing them to sit their GCSE exam. I have wide experience of developing personalised lesson plans tailored to each student's individual needs. Clear measurable goals are identified, so students can see they are progressing.

I am experienced in quickly identifying strengths and weaknesses of students in the subject and then undergo strategies for overcoming the weaknesses.
I make every effort to inspire and motivate my students not only to achieve but to excel and exceed their target levels.

I use a selected range of different learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards to teach my lessons.
My approach as a tutor is very much student-led, meaning that I adapt my teaching style to fit the individual needs of each student.

I have a wide variety of experience supporting students on both the Edexcel, AQA and iGCSE specifications, at both foundation and higher level. I also have experience helping guide adult learners through the GCSE course.
- I have access to a large quantity of maths practice questions, mock exam papers and written solutions.

I keep track of what has been covered in each lesson, the homework set, and the marks from homework. I can send this to parents so that they can see the progress we’re making.
I ask my students what they’ll be learning in school over the next few weeks and teach this first so that they can go into lessons with confidence.

I’m on hand via e-mail or Whatsapp for homework help.
I spend time after every lesson chatting with parents about how we’re progressing and goals for the future. I’m also happy to send progress reports via text or e-mail if that works better.
