I am a qualified Specialist Teacher with over twenty-five years of experience in the education and childcare sector. My knowledge about special needs is verified by a Master's Degree in Autism, Bachelor's Degree in Teaching, and many years spent educating and supporting children and young people with learning difficulties and various conditions like Autism, ADHD, OCD, PDA, Down Syndrome, Mental Health, SEMH, Speech and Language Delay, Multi-sensory impairment, Profound and multiple learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Tutoring Experience

I am confident and experienced in using: Proloquo2Go (The app for pre-verbal children, which is an augmentative and AAC- alternative communication tool), Makaton, SCERTS, Colourful Semantics, Intensive Interaction, Zones of Regulation, Social Stories, Lego & Music therapies and Widgit Symbols (symbols used worldwide to support children in communication and help them to realise their full potential).
I deliver group and individual special needs therapies as required.
I learned how to manage and address children's and parental anxieties regarding special needs and interventions, evaluate student outcomes and embed robust person-centred processes for transferring and discharging behaviour. I am confident in supporting and guiding complex cases. I am experienced in working closely with parents/carers, other professionals, and multidisciplinary agencies (I have practical knowledge of writing and working with EHCPs and Local Authorities).

Tutoring Approach

A compassionate teacher who considers each student’s unique goals, needs and interests while creating effective lesson plans and activities to accommodate their needs. My most significant skill is facilitating all styles of learners. I develop multi-sensory lesson plans to meet the needs of auditory, visual, tactile and kinaesthetic learners. I also incorporate various forms of technology, manipulative group work and thematic units to teach new concepts. I know how to identify and implement goals tailored to the needs and abilities of the students.
