Hello, I'm Maddy and I am a Geography graduate from the University of Cambridge.
My Academics: I achieved 12 A*s and 1 A at GCSE at my local state school, including A*s in Maths and Further Maths. I went on to achieve 2 A*s and 1 A at A-Level including an A* in Maths. Following this, I was lucky enough to get a place at Cambridge University to study Geography and spent 3 gruelling years there, graduating with a 2:1 in my degree. There was a key element of maths throughout my degree including modules in statistics and computer modelling.
Despite the fact that I chose Geography to study at University, I have always had a strong love of Maths and tutored younger kids in Maths whilst at secondary school.
I have now been a professional maths tutor for 3 years. I am a very calm and patient teacher and I know how important it is to move at the student's pace rather than your own. I am enthusiastic and try to make all my lessons fun but with a clear goal to reach by end so that progress can be seen by the student and they can come away from each lesson feeling that they have improved on at least one aspect.
My lessons will be mainly shaped around you as the student and the particular aspects of Maths you are struggling with at school. Our initial sessions will look at identifying these key areas of improvement and the current level you are working at. Together, we will set goals for you to meet by the end of our sessions. We will work through exercises together to better understand aspects you find hard at school. If taking exams, as the exam approaches we will go through exam papers together so that you feel fully confident to sit the exam and get the grade that you deserve.
