Hi there I'm Lydia! I am a Chemistry PhD student and Durham University and I received my Master's degree (with a year abroad study) from Newcastle University in 2020. I have a few years experience with tutoring and I have enjoyed every second! I am highly motivated with my students best interests at heart. I enjoy mentoring and guiding my students towards thinking tackling problems and independently and confidently
I have been a tutor since 2020 helping students achieve excellent grades and relieving the stain on teachers during a COVID-19. I have not only tutored Chemistry but I have also aided Biologists and Mathematicians strive towards excellent grades.
First lesson is always free as above most it’s important to me that the student likes my approach and style to teaching I always like to start with a little quiz for our first lesson, this helps me establish their strengths and weaknesses. I ask students what they would like to work on and achieve.
I aim to set out little problems throughout the session, tackling the first few together and then letting the student tackle something independently.
I use creative ways of teaching to enforce their knowledge such as: creating mind maps, letting them be the teacher and playing puzzles and games.
During long sessions I schedule in a quick break, where we can have a chat, have a toilet break, get some refreshments or watch a topic related video. This allows to refocus the student and help build a great teacher-student bond.
