I'm in my early thirties with a doctorate in physics. I'm originally from South Africa and have lived in Scotland since 2022. I live in Dunfermline with my parter and our young daughter. In my spare time I enjoy hiking and reading.

Tutoring Experience

I have more than a decade of teaching experience. I was on a teaching scholarship during my doctoral studies, as part of which I had lectured to groups of undergraduates and also facilitated lab sessions at my university. I have a tonnes of experience as a private tutor in maths, applied maths, and physics at both secondary and tertiary level. I've also tutored at primary level but to a lesser extent. I've worked as a private tutor part-time since 2010. I've tutored in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa.

Tutoring Approach

I have an informal approach to tutoring and use positive reenforcement. Generally, I'll go over homework or past papers with my students and will guide them through the problems without outright giving them the answers. I'm flexible and can adapt my approach as necessary to the particular student. If you live around Dunfermline, I can come to your home or another location of your choice. Otherwise, I can tutor online which usually works just as well in my experience. I've got a drawing tablet, so I can write equations and formulae on a digital whiteboard during online tutorials. These can be accessed online at any time.
