I have just started my 17th year of teaching in an Amersham Grammar School, I also worked at an inner London comprehensive for 10 years previously. I believe that students can overcome barriers to learning, and that teachers have the ability to transform their learning experience and ultimate outcomes. I live in Amersham with my husband and three daughters. I am happy to tutor 1:1 or online.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught science and physics to KS3,4 and 5 to all ability levels. I am also currently the Subject Leader for Science and Physics. This has allowed me to develop depth knowledge of both the GCSE & A Level curriculum. I have taught AQA & Edexcel specifications. One of my strengths is subject knowledge; I studied physics at Birmingham University for my degree, I have many hours of teaching experience and I am an examiner for AQA Physics GCSE. I have always enjoyed 1:1 tutoring throughout my career alongside my other teaching roles.

Tutoring Approach

Over 20 years of working in secondary schools has provided me with an invaluable experience of the most effective practices that exist within our education system. I use a range of techniques, explaining, modelling and exam practice being at the core of my tutoring style. I understand the challenges students face and have a friendly and approachable manner. Last year I enjoyed tutoring Year 13 student who could not attend school, helping him raise his grade from a U in his mock exams to achieving grade B, and a GCSE student raise her predicted grade from a grade 5 to achieving a grade 8. I also tutored a further 3 A* students throughout year 13.
